Registration is open now for the 2019 NRA Smallbore Intermediate Camp. This five-day instructional camp will be held July 10-14 at the Wa-Ke-De Range, located a few miles from Bristol, IN. The camp conveniently begins two days before the 2019 NRA Smallbore Nationals are underway on July 16.

The camp is not meant for beginners. Instead, it is geared towards high school-aged student-athletes that have at least one year of three-position smallbore rifle competition experience. As a matter of fact, there is a one-year smallbore rifle experience requirement for each shooter. Additionally, campers will need to bring their own shooting equipment.

At last year's NRA Smallbore Intermediate Camp, the campers took full advantage of having such great coaching talent in one location, with a few achieving personal best scores. There was even one camper that even traveled all the way from Alaska to attend. Traveling 4,000 miles is a small price to pay to learn from elite smallbore rifle shooters.

Housing will be provided by the NRA and the cost is included in the $400 camp entry fee.

Topics that will be covered at the camp include:

  • Safety fundamentals.
  • Proper sighting-in techniques.
  • Prone position classes.
  • Prone competition practice.
  • Standing position classes.
  • Standing position practice.
  • Kneeling position classes.
  • Kneeling position practice.
  • Wind and weather.
  • Rifle care and cleaning.
  • Positive attitude and goals.
  • Sports psychology.
  • Awards ceremony presence and manners.
  • Nutrition goals.
  • Preparing to shoot in college.
