Created in 1936, the All-American award honors collegiate shooters in the rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines. Award recipients are selected by NRA's Collegiate Programs Committee, one of 39 policy-making committees of the Association. The selection committee is comprised of individuals well known in the competitive shooting community. Some committee members are former All-Americans, have served as coaches of All-Americans, or both.
Junior Rhiann Travis was the Overall winner in then Rifle competition at the 2015 Dixie Double. Following in second was Sarah Beard, while Daniel Lowe rounded out the Top 3.

Five Team nominations were up for grabs over the three-day selection match—two in Men’s Air Rifle, and one each in Men’s Air Pistol, Women’s Air Rifle and Women’s Air Pistol.
Rachel Mangan of Clemson University dominated the competition, winning the overall individual aggregate and the individual air rifle championship.
The League is extremely popular in Minnesota, with over 10,000 student-athletes participating in 2016.
