Team USA competitors stole the show at the 2022 Cyprus Shotgun World Cup after walking away with seven medals
Austen Smith clinched a Golden Target, while Maddy Bernau secured a Mixed Team gold medal and Kayle Browning earned a silver at the 2021 ISSF Shotgun President’s Cup.
Vincent Hancock, Amber English, Kayle Browning, Maddy Bernau and Austen Smith are in Cyprus this week to compete for the coveted “Golden Target” or “Best Athlete of the Year” award, in addition to cash prizes.
While training and competitions were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. shooters traveled to Japan prepared to compete and win.
On her way to the silver, Browning had 19 consecutive target hits in the final. The bronze went to Alessandra Perilli of San Marino, the first medal ever won for the small country.
On Jul. 27 at the Tokyo Olympics, Team USA's Mary Tucker and Lucas Kozeniesky won the silver medal in the 10m mixed team rifle event. This year marked the debut of the mixed team rifle event at the Olympics.
Another Tokyo Olympics event, another gold medal for the U.S. Shooting Team. After Amber English secured the gold medal for Team USA in the women’s skeet event on Monday morning at the Tokyo Olympics, her teammate Vincent Hancock followed up in men’s skeet with a gold medal of his own—marking his third career Olympic win in the event, which is the most for any skeet shooter in history.
