On September 24-26, the NRA World Shooting Championship, presented by Magpul, will be held at the Peacemaker National Training Center in Glengary, West Virginia. The NRA will gather the world’s top shooters, as well as the next generation of competitors to test their prowess in virtually every type of major firearms shooting sports. Featuring stages in pistol, rifle, shotgun, and combined firearms, shooters will compete in 12 disciplines over three days.
Last year’s winner Doug Koenig won $25,000 after being crowned the 2016 undisputed World Shooting Champion. Previous winners are notable action and 3-Gun shooters Bruce Piatt and Daniel Horner.
Next year, the NRA World Shooting Championship presented by Walther Arms will be held at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, April 4-6, 2024.
Changes to the event allow pro shooters to compete with their own guns and ammo.
The Competition SR Fixed 4.5 x 24 is purpose-built to comply with 2016 rules that, for the first time, allow the use of riflescopes having a maximum magnification of 4.5x, objective lens diameter to 34 mm, and combined weight of optic and service rifle to 11.5 pounds.
Lena and Kay Miculek finished first and second place, respectively, in the Ladies Championship.
The match featured 12 stages in pistol, rifle, and shotgun, all configured to challenge shooting proficiency.
