Another Tokyo Olympics event, another gold medal for the U.S. Shooting Team. After Amber English secured the gold medal for Team USA in the women’s skeet event on Monday morning at the Tokyo Olympics, her teammate Vincent Hancock followed up in men’s skeet with a gold medal of his own—marking his third career Olympic win in the event, which is the most for any skeet shooter in history.
Hancock, a two-time Olympic medalist, was the Men’s Skeet runner-up at the 2021 ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Italy, after falling one target short of winning the gold.
The United States is once again a lock to top the medal table at the Summer Olympics, according to Gracenote Sports. This would mark the seventh Summer Games in a row where Team USA has been at the top of the medal leaderboard.
Vincent Hancock secured the gold after dueling with teammate Christian Elliott, who had to settle for the silver medal. The last time Team USA finished with two top shooters on a World Cup podium was in 1993. Hancock has five straight ISSF World Cup wins and sixth straight international victories.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was the only athlete to hit a perfect 125/125 in Men's Skeet qualification at the 2019 ISSF World Cup for Shotgun in Acapulco, Mexico. He went on to win his 11th ISSF World Cup gold medal
