Julie Golob won the Classic Division at the 2017 IPSC Handgun World Shoot XVIII, held August 27 to September 3 in Châteauroux, France. Golob triumphed over a field of 13 women who qualified in the division from around the globe. She received a 100 percent category score―beating the second-place contender by nearly eight percent.

The 2017 IPSC Handgun World Shoot XVIII included 30 stages divided into five areas, with each area being themed and named after Africa, Asia, America, Australia and Europe.

“In IPSC, the shooter must be completely on their game, making every shot count,” said Golob. “Their gear must meet the demands. My Performance Center 9 mm 1911 in my Safariland rig ran flawlessly over the six days of competition in both mid 90s heat with high humidity and rain in the 50s. With the peace of mind my gear provides, I can always focus 100 percent on my performance.”

Golob began her shooting career at 14, practicing with her father, Pete Goloski―preparing for her future career as a professional markswoman, competition shooter, and National and World champion. After joining the United States Army in 1994 with her acceptance in the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Action Shooting Team, she began to compete. Not too long afterwards, she was named U.S. Army Athlete of the Year. Golob’s notable shooting achievements have continued to pile up since thenincluding three NRA Bianchi Cup Ladies Open Championships. Her next competition is the NSSF Rimfire World Championships.
