Two-time Olympian and Team Federal competitor Derrick Mein added another title to his resume, winning the Super Sport event at the 2025 NSCA South Central Regional. The event, held September 10-14 at Covey Rise Gun Club in Husser, Louisiana, brought together 632 of the nation’s top sporting clays competitors.

Mein topped the Super Sport leaderboard, finishing with a score of 96 out of 100 on a challenging course. The performance earned him the High Over All (HOA) title against a field of 499 shooters. He also finished as runner-up in the Five-Stand event, which drew nearly 360 competitors. His score was 94 out of 100, only three points behind the top Five-Stand shooter, Brandon Powell.

Mein shoots with Federal’s Gold Medal Paper shotshells—ammunition that he credits as part of his success.

“I contribute my continued success to the quality and consistency of the Federal Premium Gold Medal Papers that I rely on,” Mein said. “Even when I’m not perfect, they are, and they help me break those few extra targets it takes to win.”
