The 2023 Florida State Precision Pistol Championships were held at the Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club in Jacksonville, Fla., October 21-22. The match was sponsored by the Florida Sport Shooting Association.

The 2023 Florida State Precision Pistol Championships, sponsored by the Florida Sport Shooting Association, were fired at Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club in Jacksonville, Fla., October 21-22. Both Saturday and Sunday were beautiful days, as 31 shooters that traveled from six states competed in a great two-day event.

With a score of 2558-79X, Seth Innes of Hollywood, Fla., was the match winner and the top shooter in the High Civilian, High Senior and High Veteran categories. He was also awarded the Florida Sport Shooting Association Trophy as State Precision Pistol Champion. Randy Erickson of Jacksonville, Fla., finished in second place overall with a score of 2544-64X, and third overall went to Robert Fanucci of Mershon, Ga., with 2542-81X.

Nestor Pena of Davenport, Fla., was the High Master Class and High Service winner with a score of 2537-88X, followed by Kelvin Alleyne of Jacksonville, Fla., who won the Expert Class with a score of 2524-71X. Next, Russell Gill of Apopka, Fla., took the combined Sharpshooter and Marksman Class with 2323-34X.

Gilmer, Texas, resident Odie Hitt won the High Police category award with 2529-69X, while Ed Grove of Pasadena, Md., topped the Grand Senior category leaderboard with a score of 2534-63X, which also netted him the High Master Class award. Melinda Lowery of Lampasas, Texas, was the High Women category winner with 2230-36X. Derek Simmons of Lake Mary, Fla., was the Metallic Division winner with a score of 1570-6X. In addition, Douglas Roe of The Villages, Fla., was the .22 Only Aggregate winner, scoring 2543-57X.

In the Distinguished Revolver Match, Randy Erickson was the winner (258-4X), while Bob Hathcox finished second and was also the high non-distinguished competitor, unofficially earning the bronze and six points toward his distinguished title. Rounding out the top three in Distinguished Revolver was Nestor Pena.
