Derrick Mein isn’t just winning—he’s making a statement.

The two-time Olympian and veteran of the international shooting scene delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 USA Shooting Trap National Championship, capturing gold in the Men’s Open Match and reaffirming his place among the sport’s elite.

At the match, held at the John A. Halter Shooting Sports Center at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan, from May 28 to June 1, the nation’s top shotgun athletes participated in a high-stakes competition that also served as a selection event for international teams.

Mein outshot a stacked field of top-tier competitors at the 2025 USA Shooting Trap National Championship, walking away with 230 points in qualification and three open finals points. In addition, he secured his spot on the U.S. team for the upcoming ISSF World Championship.

Mein’s performance stood out in a field of elite shooters, showcasing the consistency and mental toughness that have defined his career. A proud member of Team Federal, he has long relied on the support and gear provided by Federal Ammunition, His performance in Hillsdale is the latest in a string of high-level finishes that continue to elevate both his profile and that of the team.

Mein wasn’t the only Team Federal athlete to shine at the 2025 USA Shooting Shotgun Nationals. During the Skeet Championships, held May 21-25, four-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock earned silver in the Men’s Open Match. In addition, Amber English, another Team Federal standout and Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist, secured the bronze medal in the Women’s Open Match. All three athletes have been named to the U.S. Team for the 2025 ISSF World Championships.

Meanwhile, Conner Prince—fresh off landing an Olympic silver medal in France—was honored with the prestigious Civilian Marksmanship Program Distinguished International Shooters Badge, the highest award for international marksmanship excellence. Prince, also a member of Team Federal, is one of only three USA Shooting athletes to earn the badge in 2024.

With the 2025 ISSF World Championships on the horizon, USA Shooting athletes will rely on experience and leadership as they take on the world’s best competition shotgun shooters. If Mein’s performance at Hillsdale College is any indication, the team will be more than ready.

“These athletes are true competitors and champions,” Federal Vice President of Marketing Jason Nash said. “We know that talents of this level must trust the best equipment available, and we are proud to have all of them as part of Team Federal. We congratulate their accomplishments at the 2025 Shotgun Nationals, and we look forward to seeing more successes at upcoming matches.”
