New from Staccato is the HD double-stack pistol lineup with four- and 4½-inch variants, both chambered in 9 mm Luger. During Staccato Range Day in January, Shooting Illustrated Executive Editor Jay Grazio had the chance to shoot the new Staccato HD P4 handgun with Staccato’s Michelle Viscusi. Watch the video above.

The newest double-stack offering from Staccato, the HD handgun lineup stands out from the pack with the use of Glock-pattern steel magazines built by Mec-Gar. Notably, there is no grip safety. Additionally, HD pistols are fully ambidextrous, with the slide release on both sides and a reversible magazine release.

Also new is an optics-mounting system, and the Staccato HD can direct mount the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and Trijicon RMR footprints.

More from Staccato: “The Staccato HD line is an entirely new family of pistols, designed with feedback from our elite professional end-users. HD pistols remain true to our heritage while being the most technologically advanced, thoroughly tested version of the 2011 platform to date. A complete ergonomics overhaul, new optics mounting system, improved recoil system and active firing pin block provide a combination of durability and shootability only available in the world’s best shooting handgun.”

The frame of the Staccato HD P4 is made from billet machined 4140 steel. Also, the four-inch bull barrel is available with either stainless steel or a DLC finish.

Regarding the HOST optics mounting system, with spacer plates red dots can be attached directly to the slide. Longer optics screws ensure secure attachment to the handgun.

The weight of the Staccato HD P4 is 32 ounces, sans magazine.

“This gun is absolutely phenomenal,” Michelle Viscusi of Staccato said about the new Staccato HD. “One of my favorite features is that we actually removed the grip safety. Not only that, if you’re a lefty—good for you guys, we now have a gun for you. We have the slide lock release on both sides. You can also exchange the mag release.”

Staccato HD
Fully ambidextrous for left- and right-hand shooting, the new Staccato HD feeds from Glock-pattern steel magazines made by Mec-Gar and, unique for the company, has no grip safety.
