Browning announced the new Citori 825 Sporting 12-gauge shotgun in January prior to SHOT Show 2025, and this scattergun for sporting-clays fans and hunters turned heads on the show floor. American Hunter Associate Editor David Herman had a chance to check it out before SHOT Show and you can find out what he learned by watching the above video.

More from Browning: “Enter the new Citori 825 Sporting, an over and under that will take you to the next level. From crossing clays to bounding rabbits, this shotgun has the handling, features and durability for round after round of fun.”

Available with 30-inch or 32-inch barrels, the Citori 825 Sporting over-under 12-gauge shotgun is designed for sporting clays and skeet competition. Although this is a sporting scattergun, the 50/50 point of impact makes it a solid choice for wingshooting as well. In addition, for pointing the Citori 825 Sporting, there is a HiViz Pro Comp fiber-optic sight on the business end of the top barrel, along with an ivory mid-bead.

The top and side ribs are ventilated, and the gloss oil finish Grade III/IV walnut stock features a close radius pistol grip with palm swell. Plus, Browning’s adjustable Triple Trigger System includes three trigger shoes.

Both steel barrels sport a matte blued finish, while the receiver has a silver nitride finish. As for the three-inch chambers, they are chrome plated. Additionally, a large Inflex II recoil pad on the buttstock should aid in mitigating felt recoil.

The Browning Citori 825 Sporting also features revamped controls, including a reshaped safety/barrel selector, a more ergonomic top lever and a larger fore-arm latch.

Similar to other models in the Browning Citori 825 lineup, this Sporting variant includes a low-profile receiver, transversely mounted hinge pin, chrome chambers and a tapered locking lug and recess, the latter self-adjusting to help the lock up remain tight.

“This is actually a shotgun designed for hunters who want to hone their skills in the offseason with sporting clays,” Herman said about the Browning Citori 825 Sporting. “As a result, the comb on the stock naturally aligns the eye with the rib, and to make it a little bit more natural for hunters, it even has a 50-50 point of impact. This is a sporting-clays gun you can actually take afield.”

Five Invector-DS extended choke tubes are included: full, improved modified, modified, improved cylinder and skeet. In addition, a choke wrench comes with the Browning Citori 825 Sporting shotgun.

For the model with 30-inch barrels, the weight is seven pounds, eight ounces, with an overall length of 48 inches. The 32-inch model weighs two ounces more at seven pounds, 10 ounces, with the overall length increasing to 50 inches long.

MSRP for the Browning Citori 825 Sporting shotgun is $3,679.99. Go to browning.com.
