More than 60 competitors gathered at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio, over the weekend of May 31 for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s 2025 Long-Range Warm-Up Matches. The two-day event, fired at 1,000-yards with electronic targets, featured Match Rifle (Iron/Any Sights), Service Rifle, Palma, AR Tactical, F-Open and F T/R categories.

Saturday’s opening round brought stiff challenges. Winds swept across the range at 14 to 18 m.p.h., with gusts peaking at 25 m.p.h., forcing competitors to make constant adjustments. Despite the chill, shooters stayed focused and powered through. Sunday brought calmer skies and more favorable shooting conditions.

Kimberly Rowe, 55, of Wadsworth, Ohio, emerged as the overall aggregate winner with a score of 1170-43X. After a second-place finish in the Iron Sights division on day one, Rowe surged ahead on day two, outpacing the field by six points and clinching the overall title by a narrow margin—two Xs.

Not only that, Rowe finished ahead of her husband, Charles Rowe, who had to settle for the runner-up spot on the the overall aggregate leaderboard with a score of 1170-43X.

Taking third place in the two-day aggregate was Joseph Hendricks with a score of 1164-35X.

In the Any Sights category, Thomas Bopple, 62, of Medina, Ohio, staged a strong comeback. He opened with 570-13X on Saturday, then delivered a 592-22X on Sunday to finish with an aggregate 1162-35X score to secure the win.

Palma class leader Nathan Abrams, 22, of Petersburg, Michigan, posted back-to-back 575s to total 1150-19X, edging out the field by a single point.

CMP High Power Rifle Coordinator Sara Rozanski praised the event’s smooth execution.

“We heard a lot of positive feedback from competitors on the line about the match,” she said. “Our e-targets ran well, and we were able to finish each day in around four hours.”
