This week at the 2018 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits in Dallas, TX, LWRC International had their new competitive shooting rifle on display—the IC DI Competition Model. The new IC DI Competition was designed in conjunction with competitive shooters to produce a rifle that can be used at matches straight out of the box. Depending on configuration, pricing for the rifle ranges from $2,075 to $2,228.
There's a bevy of standard features on this 5.56mm rifle, in addition to the company's direct impingement system and DI bolt carrier group that comes with every model in the LWRC DI lineup. Coming in at seven pounds, the rifle length is 38-inches and barrel length is 16.1-inches.
The barrel, gas block and gas tube are NiCorr-treated for durability. The 14-inch free floating handguards include M-LOK attachment points and a partial Picatinny rail on the top. The trigger is a Timney 6675 Competition Straight model. Additionally, the muzzle brake is LWRC's Ultra Brake 4-Port Enhanced version.
One of the coolest features is the short throw fire selector switch. This switch, along with the other lower controls—the bolt catch and release and the mag release—are fully ambidextrous. Magpul furniture, namely the MOE+ grip and MOE rifle stock, complete the package.
