Brandon Maddox, founder and CEO of South Dakota-based Silencer Central, has been appointed to the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Board of Governors.

The NSSF Board, composed of leaders across the firearms and outdoor recreation sectors, helps guide the organization’s efforts in supporting the shooting sports industry.

Maddox, a lifelong outdoorsman and Second Amendment advocate, is best known for building Silencer Central into a national leader in suppressor sales. His appointment reflects a continued emphasis by NSSF on including voices with strong entrepreneurial backgrounds.

“I am deeply honored to accept the appointment to the NSSF Board of Governors,” Maddox said. “The NSSF plays a pivotal role in defending our Second Amendment rights and supporting companies within the firearms industry. As someone who has led from the front and actively worked to improve the buying process and regulatory landscape for suppressors, I can attest to what a great resource and partner NSSF can be for entrepreneurs like [me]. That’s why I see this appointment as an opportunity and responsibility to continue working for the good of firearm and suppressor owners, and to protect and expand our nation’s shooting and hunting heritage.”

Maddox’s involvement in firearms policy and industry reform is extensive. He also founded the South Dakota Firearms Industry Association and has testified on regulatory issues in state legislatures.

In 2024, Maddox was honored with the NRA Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award during a special breakfast at the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas last May. The award highlights trailblazers in the firearms industry who have significantly advanced new product categories.

Having championed reforms that protect shooting sports and expand access for responsible firearm owners, Maddox brings a track record of business leadership, regulatory expertise and Second Amendment advocacy to the NSSF’s Board of Governors.

“Brandon brings deep knowledge of the regulatory landscape and a passion for protecting the rights of sportsmen and women,” NSSF President and CEO Joe Bartozzi said. “His entrepreneurial leadership and commitment to our industry’s growth will be valuable assets to the Board of Governors.”

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, founded in 1961, is the firearm industry’s national trade association, dedicated to promoting and preserving the traditions of hunting and recreational shooting.
