Hillsdale College is hosting the 2021 U.S. National Olympic Skeet and Trap Championships at its John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center from September 8-19. The match boasts some of the best skeet and trap shooters in the country, including several Olympic athletes.

Since 2019, Hillsdale College has been the home of the USA Shooting National Team.

“National events such as this are an incredible thing to be a part of,” said Rich Péwé, Hillsdale’s chief administrative officer. “To see such top-notch athletes display their talent and hard work is just one great part of the College’s partnership with USA Shooting.”

Earlier this year, the Halter Center hosted the USA Shooting Junior Olympic Trap and Skeet development camps and championships. The Halter Center boasts 113 range acres, four international skeet fields, a 22-station sporting clays course, five international bunkers, a small arms range and international archery range, nine American Trap fields and the AcuSport lodge.

For this year's event, Bart Spieth of Hillsdale College and Sharee Waldron of USA Shooting will be the match directors.

If you are local to the Hillsdale, Mich., area, stop by to watch the championships for free. Skeet will be September 6-12, and Trap will be September 13-19. In addition, the Halter Center’s sporting clays course will be open for members and the general public throughout the event. USA Shooting makes every effort to start matches at 9:00 a.m., but reserves the right to change start times in the case of environmental or other unforeseen circumstances.
