The 126th consecutive ATA Grand American World Trapshooting Championship will be held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Illinois, from July 30 to August 9, 2025.
Last year, the Amateur Trapshooting Association celebrated a historic milestone in Grand American history—the 125th anniversary of the tournament. This year marks another milestone for the Grand—the 20th year of the competition being hosted at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta.
“The first Super Bowl took place in 1967. The first Masters golf tournament was in 1934 and the first World Series was in 1903. The Super Bowl, Masters and World Series of trapshooting is the Grand American,” ATA President David A. Rhoads said. “The first Grand American was at live pigeons in 1893, and the first at targets was in 1900. This event predates all those other championship events and with nearly 5,000 competitors has more than all the others combined.”
This year’s Grand American will feature 24 numbered events across Preliminary Week and Grand Week, culminating in the ATA 2600 High Over All competition, as well as the ATA World High-All-Around and ATA World High-Over-All 1000.
Pre-squadding for the 2025 Grand American will open on June 16 at the ATA website. To pre-squad, you will need your ATA number and those of the shooters you want to squad with. Act fast if you’re interested in attending, because pre-squadding will close on July 20.
