The 2026 NRA Long Range National Championships will be held May 19-23 at Alliance Rifle Club in Malvern, Ohio. The five-day program features some of the most prestigious trophies in all of competitive shooting, with individual matches fired from the prone position at distances out to 1,000 yards. Registration is open now at targetscore.com.

Entries are limited to 100 competitors and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, with additional registrations placed on a waitlist. The individual entry fee is $200. NRA membership is not required to compete, but non-members are not eligible for national record recognition. Unclassified competitors will compete in the Master class category.

Competitors may fire Service Rifle (Rule 3.1), Any Rifle (Rule 3.2) or Palma Rifle (Rule 3.3.1), depending on the match. Several individual matches allow all three rifle types, while others are restricted to a specific class. Squadding is organized around two aggregates: the Canadian Cup for Any Rifles and the Sierra Trophy for Palma Rifles. Competitors may not change aggregates once competition begins.

The week opens Tuesday with the Remington Trophy (Match 531) and the Mustin Trophy (Match 532), both 20-shot matches at 1,000 yards. The Remington places no restrictions on sights, while the Mustin requires metallic sights only. Shoot-offs for the high scorer from each relay follow both matches.

Wednesday morning brings three concurrent individual matches—the Leech Cup (Match 534) for Any Rifle with metallic sights, the Porter Trophy (Match 535) for Service Rifle and the Andrus Trophy (Match 536) for Palma Rifle—followed by their respective shoot-offs and then the Roumanian Trophy Team Match (Match 521) in the afternoon.

Thursday repeats the format with the Wimbledon Cup (Match 537) for Any Rifle with any sights, the Farr Trophy (Match 538) for Service Rifle and the “Doc” Aiken Trophy (Match 539) for Palma Rifle, followed by the Herrick Trophy Team Match (Match 522).

Friday features the Palma Individual Trophy Match (Match 540), which tests competitors across three distances: 15 record shots each at 800, 900 and 1,000 yards. Unlimited practice firing is allowed at 800 yards with coaching permitted during practice only. Each stage carries a 22-minute time limit. Service Rifle shooters are limited to .308/7.62 or .223/5.56 calibers in this match. The week concludes Saturday with the Palma Course Team Matches, fired concurrently for Palma Rifle (Match 523) and Service Rifle (Match 524) four-man teams.

Several aggregate awards span the week’s individual matches. The Tompkins Trophy (Match 500) is the overall long-range championship aggregate, combining scores from the Remington, Mustin and one match each from the Wednesday and Thursday trios, plus the Palma Individual. Special trophy plaques within the Tompkins aggregate recognize the High Service Rifle competitor (Billy C. Atkins Trophy), High Junior (Ian Cheeseman “Cheyenne” Trophy), High Palma Rifle competitor (Bert Rollins Memorial Trophy) and High Marine (Edward J. Land, Jr., Trophy). The Canadian Cup (Match 501) aggregates four Any Rifle matches, while the Sierra Trophy (Match 511) does the same for Palma Rifle and the Service Rifle Aggregate (Match 512) covers four Service Rifle matches.

Shoot-offs for each historic NRA trophy are conducted per Rule 11.6.7(c). The high-scoring competitor from each relay qualifies, and ties on score and X-count send all tied competitors to the shoot-off line. Each participant fires three sighting shots and 10 record shots in 13 minutes. If the shoot-off itself ends in a tie, competitors fire additional five-shot strings counting Xs with no sighters in five-minute windows until the tie is broken. The same rifle used in the qualifying match must be fired in its corresponding shoot-off.

Shot Marker electronic targets will be used throughout the championship. Competitors should bring a device with browser capabilities and sufficient battery life for a full day of shooting. Despite the electronic scoring, competitors are still required to perform scoring duties. An e-target resolution process will be included in each competitor’s packet, which can be picked up the morning of May 19.
