Griffin Lake walked into the Men’s 10m Air Rifle final 2.7 points behind Gavin Barnick, then shot a 248.7—the highest final score fired by any man in Colorado Springs—to close out the 2026 USA Shooting Rifle Fall Selection Match with a selection total of 2761.1.
Barnick, who had carried the qualification lead, finished at 2759.4. Peter Fiori claimed third place with a score of 2739.0.
On the women’s side, Alison Weisz of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit posted a 629.7 and a 630.5 across her two qualification matches—the best single relay score fired by any woman in Colorado Springs—adding a 251.1 in the final for a winning total of 2766.0. Cecelia Ossi answered with a 250.4 of her own but came up 4 points short at 2762.0. Paris 2024 silver medalist and Weisz’s AMU teammate Sagen Maddalena, who entered the final one-tenth of a point off Weisz’s qualification aggregate, finished third at 2740.1.
Weisz’s 2766.0 stood as the high mark across both relays.
Fall Selection is a crucial step in USA Shooting’s athlete selection process, with competitors earning points toward national team rankings and future international team nominations under the organization’s published selection procedures. Scoring reflects that. Rather than a standalone match aggregate, each athlete’s selection total blends a carried-forward national championship score with two qualification matches and, for the top eight, a final.
With the LA28 Olympic Games on the horizon, matches like this one give Olympians, current national team members and rising junior athletes a chance to establish position inside the U.S. high-performance pipeline.
That pipeline was on display in both eight-shooter finals. Lucas Kozeniesky, who won mixed team air rifle silver at the Tokyo Games alongside Mary Tucker, finished fifth among the men at 2692.1, with Olympian Ivan Roe sixth at 2670.6. Tucker herself placed sixth in the women’s air rifle field at 2670.0.
Juniors claimed three of eight men’s final spots and two of eight on the women’s side. Beyond Lake, Tyler Wee finished fourth with 2713.5 and 2026 NCAA Smallbore Rifle Champion Braden Peiser was in seventh place with a score of 2643.7. Plus, Elizabeth Probst was the top junior woman in fifth at 2693.0, with Katlyn Sullivan seventh at 2642.8.
Depth showed up further down the results as well. Mackenzie Kring fired scores of 628.1 and 627.5 for a two-match aggregate of 1255.6, a number bettered by only three women in the field, though she finished 23rd based on selection total.
