CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. — The 2026 NRA America’s Rifle Challenge Match Director Summit kicked off Wednesday, May 7 with classroom instruction, beginning a three-day program that combines lectures and live-fire range training at the Indiana National Guard installation. The summit is at full capacity, with attendees from 25 states traveling to Camp Atterbury for the event.
The ARC Match Director Summit is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of current and aspiring ARC match directors and range officers. Organized by the NRA Competitive Shooting Division, the program is limited to 36 attendees to ensure hands-on instruction and a personal focus throughout the curriculum. Lodging and meals are provided on-site for all participants.
As for the curriculum, it covers the full scope of match director and range officer responsibilities: competitor safety, match administration, range operations, stage design and best practices for delivering a high-quality competitive experience. Classroom instruction on the opening day gives way to Level 1 live-fire range exercises on Thursday and Level 2 live-fire exercises on Friday, giving attendees the chance to run actual courses of fire under the guidance of experienced NRA ARC staff.
The geographic reach of this year’s class highlights nationwide interest in the program. Attendees traveled from as far as California and Nevada in the west and Maine and New York in the northeast, with solid representation from across the Southeast, Midwest and Great Plains. Demand exceeded available seats, a sign that clubs and ranges across the country are looking to add ARC to their competition calendars.
Ranges and clubs interested in hosting NRA America’s Rifle Challenge competitions can start by having their range team or club board review the ARC rulebook. Once a facility determines it can safely host an ARC event at the level of quality it wants to deliver, the next step is contacting NRA Competitive Shooting to register a sanctioned tournament.
