Just before the 2018 SHOT Show began, and most of us were only dreaming of the new goodies that awaited unveiling in the coming days, Jay Grazio of Shooting Illustrated was already hard at work during SIG’s Range Day. He was able to chat with Patrick Hanley, SIG Sauer’s rifle project manager about the company’s new precision rifle, the SIG716 G2 6.5 Creedmoor. Watch the video above to see this new rifle in action.

The SIG716 G2 6.5 Creedmoor sports a one-piece M-LOK handguard, which makes for a lighter rifle system. It also includes the Magpul PRS Gen3 stock for easy adjustability during long range rifle shooting. Grazio and Hanley were shooting the rifle with the company’s own 6.5 Creedmoor 140-grain match grade elite performance ammo.

SIG Sauer added a number of upgrades to their SIG716 precision rifle for 2018.

“We went to the 6.5 Creedmoor because as you know, it’s the hottest thing on the market right now,” said Hanley. “Everybody’s shooting it,” he added.

The gun as configured for the video was aptly described by Grazio:

“The really neat thing here is that we have a SIG Sauer rifle, SIG Sauer optic, SIG Sauer suppressor and SIG Sauer ammo. Everything, from start to finish, is SIG Sauer.”
