The Ohio State University pistol team’s Anthony McCollum has won the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Standard Pistol Championship. The championship concluded today after several days of competition hosted by the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) at Ft. Benning, GA.

The last time an Ohio State pistol shooter won this championship was when Joseph Totts secured back-to-back victories back in 2013 and 2014.

McCollum finished this year’s match with a total score of 547. In second place for the Standard Pistol Championship was Brian Kim of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, with a final score six points behind McCollum. In third place was McCollum’s Ohio State teammate, Zachary Dahmen, who finished with a score of 539.

Additionally, Ohio State won the Standard Pistol Team Championship with a combined score of 2127. Firing members included McCollum, Zachary Dahmen, Irina Andrianova and Michael Soklaski. Previously, Ohio State won this particular championship three consecutive times from 2014-2016.

The runner-up team, who lost by two points, was the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, consisting of Brian Kim, Helen Oh, Kevin Bennett and Esther Choe. In third place with a score of 2063 was the U.S. Military Academy, with team members Caleb Roth, Dillon Schaaf, Quin Cochran and Garrett Plant.

Up next on the collegiate championship docket is the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Championship, which is also hosted by the AMU at Ft. Benning. Keep checking back with SSUSA.org for all the latest collegiate competitive shooting news.
