On July 19-21, the 2018 Sportsman’s Team Challenge (STC) National Championship was held at the Bass Pro Shops Academy in Ridgedale, MO. In addition to competing in the event, the National Rifle Association’s Membership Division supported the match as a Gold Level sponsor. The three-day event was a celebration of community and teamwork, with participants as young as eight competing in teams of two or three in pistol, rifle, combo, and three different shotgun courses of fire.
Eighteen-time NRA Bianchi Cup Champion Doug Koenig was the match director, performing as such for the third consecutive year.
“What continues to amaze me is the level of camaraderie that exists among all of the competitors to support one another, yet they exhibit a fierce competitive spirit between each team,” said Koenig about the match. He added, “Big Cedar Shooting Academy demonstrated why it’s a world-class shooting facility, it did not disappoint with its stunning vistas and close proximity to nearby entertainment capitol Branson, MO.”
Additionally, NRA Membership was onsite throughout the event to celebrate the closing weekend of the inaugural NRA 100K Challenge 100-day membership drive. Though the final tally has not yet been released, 93,989 members were added during the first 95 days of the drive, so the 100,000 member target was expected to be easily met over the weekend, particularly after Kara Kelly’s welcoming ceremony speech in support of the initiative. The drive won’t stop there, however. While at the STC, NRA Membership focused on how the spirit of the 100K challenge could be continued through the NRA Industry Ally Program, which provides recognition to businesses who support the organization by boosting membership. Every last member will certainly be needed going into this hotly contested midterm election season.
