Team Federal’s Derrick Mein closed out the 2025 NSCA season with a Main Event runner-up finish at the National Sporting Clays Championships. The event, held October 18-26 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, drew more than 1,970 Main Event competitors and a total of 2,573 shooters across all divisions.

Mein, a two-time Olympian in Men’s Trap, finished with an impressive 278 out of 300, four points behind winner Mike Wilgus. His performance solidified his standing as one of the sport’s most consistent and respected competitors.

“We congratulate Derrick Mein on his performance at this year’s NSCA Sporting Clays Nationals,” says Jason Nash, Vice President of Marketing for Federal. “Derrick is a fierce competitor and an outstanding ambassador for Team Federal whether he is shooting Men’s Trap on the world stage or at a NSCA Regional or National competition.”

While Mein anchored the headlines, Team Federal’s Gary Greenway added to the team’s medal haul, taking home High Over All in the Senior Super Veteran category against a field of 104 shooters. Greenway also clinched the Super Sporting event title.

Mein credits part of his success to his gear—particularly Federal’s Gold Medal Paper shotshells, known for their paper hull design, high-antimony lead shot, and two-piece wad for uniform patterns. “I contribute my continued success to the quality and consistency of the Federal Premium Gold Medal Papers that I rely on,” Mein has said in past interviews.
