Savage Arms has introduced its latest entry into the rimfire market with the all-new RXR22, a semi-automatic .22 LR rifle engineered for adaptability and modularity. At just 4.6 pounds, this polymer-framed rifle is clearly aimed at both newcomers and seasoned shooters looking for a rimfire that punches above its price point.

Built around a blowback semi-automatic action, the RXR22 sports a 16.5-inch button-rifled barrel with a recessed crown and 1/2"x28 threaded muzzle, making it suppressor-ready out of the box. The polymer receiver also includes an integral Picatinny rail, providing real estate for optics and accessories without extra hardware.
Compatibility plays a central role here. The RXR22 accepts Ruger 10/22 rotary magazines, triggers and barrels, which opens the door to hundreds of aftermarket upgrades. An under-fore-end Picatinny rail and metal sling studs increase its utility, while a quick-release trigger group simplifies internal access and upgrades.

Ergonomics weren’t overlooked either. The vertical pistol grip comes with interchangeable inserts for hand-fit tuning, and a rear receiver cleaning port eases maintenance. A 10-round rotary magazine is included, plus there is a last-round bolt-hold-open feature when used with RXR-specific mags.
Offered in Gun Metal Gray or Flat Dark Earth (FDE) for $299 MSRP, the RXR22 feels intentionally positioned as a bridge between entry-level and enthusiast-grade rimfire rifles. Whether you’re training new shooters, building a tactical trainer or just want a reliable rimfire rifle for the range or field, this new platform offers a compelling option. Go to savagearms.com.
