When three of your five shooters each fall just one point short of perfection, the math tends to work out in your favor.

West Virginia posted a 2395-211X to win the air rifle team championship at the 2026 NCAA Rifle Championship at Ohio State’s Covelli Center in March, matching the NCAA record in the discipline. The score gave the Mountaineers an eight-point cushion over runner-up TCU and provided the decisive push in WVU’s run to a 21st overall NCAA rifle championship title.
