ANOKA, Minn. — Federal Ammunition has begun shipping its America 250th commemorative ammunition line, a collection of five target loads first announced in January and timed to the nation’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026. The lineup spans rifle, handgun, rimfire and shotshells and draw from three of Federal’s established target families—American Eagle, Top Gun and Champion. The ammunition inside the boxes is built on the same recipes and components as the standard-production versions; the packaging is what makes them collectible.

The rifle side of the lineup includes two American Eagle cartridges with distinctly different audiences. The .30-06 Springfield load carries a 150-grain full metal jacket projectile and is designed for the M1 Garand, a pairing that ties the commemorative theme to one of the most historically significant American service rifles. As for the .45-70 Govt. load, it uses a 300-grain jacketed soft point, connecting to an even older chapter of our country’s history. The .30-06 retails for $41.99 per 20-count box, while the .45-70 is $74.99 per 20-count box.

For handguns, the entry is American Eagle .45 Auto with a 230-grain full metal jacket bullet traveling at 890 fps, packaged in 50-count boxes at $35.99. The rimfire offering comes from Federal’s Champion line: .22 Long Rifle with a 36-grain copper-plated hollow point projectile at 1,260 fps in 250-count boxes for $21.99. Both are standard-velocity training and recreation loads that most people will shoot rather than shelve, which is probably the point—commemorative ammunition that never gets fired is a sealed box on a shelf, not a shared experience at the range.

The fifth load is a Top Gun 12-gauge 2¾-inch shotshell with 1⅛ ounces of No. 8 shot at $12.99 per 25-count box. It is the most accessible entry in the lineup and the one most likely to see use at a clay target range or in the upland field.

“As our country approaches this historic milestone on July 4, we wanted to offer shooters something they can enjoy at the range today while also holding onto as a collectible for years to come,” said Jesse Whiteside, vice president of product management.

All five loads are available now at dealers nationwide and online.
