Springfield Armory’s new Model 2020 Heatseeker is a compact, chassis-based rifle made for shooters seeking bolt-action precision and AR-style modularity in a suppressor-ready platform.

Sporting a Coyote Brown Cerakote finish, the Model 2020 Heatseeker bolt-action rifle is available chambered offered in .308 Win. or 6.5 mm Creedmoor and features a Sharps Bros. Heatseeker chassis.

Machined from a solid block of 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the Heatseeker chassis weighs only one pound, three ounces. The chassis includes a 14-inch long free-float handguard that weighs a svelte 10 ounces, with M-Lok on all four sides and dual quick-detach sling mounts on each side. For modularity, the chassis is designed with AR-style features like a buffer tube extension for mounting AR-pattern stocks and is designed to accept AR-pattern pistol grips. Additionally, the Model 2020 Heatseeker comes outfitted with a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (CPS) that is adjustable for both length of pull and cheek height, plus a matching CPS adjustable cheek piece and B5 Systems P-Grip 23.

Besides the modular chassis, the Model 2020 Heatseeker features Springfield’s custom-grade Model 2020 stainless steel-action. This action has dual locking lugs, a fluted bolt and EDM raceways. Mated to that action is a free-floated, 16-inch BSF barrel (1:18-inch twist) jacketed in a roll-wrapped, carbon-fiber sleeve and loaded under tension. For mounting a suppressor or muzzle device, the barrel’s muzzle is threaded 5/8x24 and features a thread-protector muzzle cap.

“This new Model 2020 Heatseeker adds a new dimension to the line, one that is as equally at home in the field as it is on the range,” Springfield Armory Vice President of Marketing Steve Kramer said. (Photo courtesy Springfield Armory)

A TriggerTech Field Trigger, adjustable for a pull weight from 2½ to five pounds, along with a metal, five-round AICS-pattern magazine round out the Model 2020 Heatseeker.

Springfield Armory said the rifle has “an impressive .75 MOA accuracy guarantee, making it ideal for demanding and serious shooters.”

MSRP for the Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker is $2,355. As mentioned, the new bolt-action rifle is available chambered in .308 Win. and 6.5 mm Creedmoor.
