New from Springfield Armory are 1911 AOS pistols that can be equipped with red-dot optics using the Agency Optic System. Already employed on Springfield Armory’s 1911 DS Prodigy 2011-style handgun, now fans of the proven 1911 platform can mount their favorite red-dot sight to their pistols, thanks to AOS mounts.

1911 Emissary AOS
Each AOS plate includes an integral rear sight to provide proper optic height and sight picture for a visible co-witness in nearly all configurations. Springfield Armory 1911 Emissary AOS pistol chambered in 9 mm Luger pictured above (MSRP: $1,378).

Springfield Armory’s 1911 AOS pistol lineup currently includes the 1911 Emissary, the 1911 Operator and the 1911 Ronin. All three are offered chambered in both 9 mm Luger or .45 ACP, along with five-inch and 4¼-inch configurations.

Something else to note: the new 1911 Operator 4¼-inch AOS is a new addition to the Operator line. Sporting a lightweight aluminum frame, this handgun is available chambered in either .45 ACP or 9 mm Luger.

AOS plates
Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the Agency Optic System (AOS) has plates that will fit many red-dot sights using the Trijicon RMR, Shield, Leupold Delta Point Pro and Docter footprints.

Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, AOS utilizes a series of plates that accommodate many popular red-dot sights following the RMR, Shield, Delta Point Pro and Docter footprints. This flexibility allows shooters to configure their handguns according to their unique preferences. Additionally, each AOS plate has an integral rear sight for co-witness capability.

All AOS-compatible handguns ship with a cover plate featuring a rear sight that matches the classic contour of the 1911 pistol’s slide. Machined from billet steel, additional AOS plates designed for a wide range of optics are available for purchase at the Springfield Armory Store. In addition, purchasers of a 1911 AOS pistol can save $80 on one AOS optic plate of their choice ($49).

1911 Ronin AOS

“The 1911 is easily the most respected—and proven—pistol in history,” Springfield Armory Vice President of Marketing Steve Kramer said. “With the new 1911 AOS, Springfield Armory is taking a revered 20th-century design and updating it for the 21st century with the ability to accept a wide range of today’s most advanced optics.”

1911 Operator AOS
