Kimber has launched its Next Generation 1911 series, introducing four new models that merge classic design with updated features. Among them are stainless steel and two-tone variants, available chambered in 9 mm Luger and .45 ACP, and priced at an MSRP of $999.

These new introductions are optics ready and feature an external extractor, different from the legacy internal design features seen on Kimber 1911 handguns for more than 30 years.

The new pistols retain the familiar full-size 1911 profile, with a five-inch stainless steel barrel, deep crown and a forged stainless frame. The slide is finished in Kimpro II Black and includes front and rear serrations along with a flat top design for reduced glare.

Both models measure 8.6 inches in length, 5.4 inches in height and weigh 36.2 ounces unloaded.

Internally, Kimber has opted for a mil-spec guide rod and a 12-pound recoil spring in the 9 mm Luger versions. The GT Performance Trigger is tuned to break between four and five pounds, offering a crisp and consistent pull. The pistols are optics-ready, shipping with a Trijicon RMR footprint mounting plate. Sights include a red dot front and fixed black rear.

Two-tone model

Grips are made from black walnut with G10 inlays, offering a balance of aesthetics and control. The stainless-steel model features a uniform satin silver finish, while the two-tone version pairs the silver frame with a black slide for contrast.

Each pistol ships with two magazines and is built entirely in the United States.

According to Kimber, this new lineup reflects customer demand for the performance and reliability seen in the company’s 2K11 series, now applied to the single-stack 1911 platform.

“We believe that the 1911 family platform will continue to be an anchor within our industry, and we are happy to provide our next generation models of the 1911 to a new generation of marksman,” Kimber Director of Product Development, Assembly and Finishing Pedi Gega said.
