Stoeger doesn’t design firearms to win spec-sheet beauty contests. The company’s reputation has been built on tools meant to be used often and without fuss. That philosophy shaped the original STR-9 Thinline, and it explains why the follow-up for 2026 isn’t a radical redesign so much as a careful tightening of the concept. The new STR-9 Thinline+ takes the same slim, striker-fired platform and pushes it toward greater capacity and more practical features.

At its core, the Thinline+ remains a pistol chambered 9 mm Luger built on Stoeger’s proven semi-automatic striker-fired system. The slide is still just one inch wide, which keeps the gun riding close to the body and reduces the chances of printing under clothing. Where it diverges from many slim pistols is grip size. Instead of shrinking everything down, Stoeger pairs that narrow slide with a standard-size grip, giving the shooter a full, confident hold without sacrificing concealability.

A ported 3.29-inch barrel and optic-ready slide highlight the Stoeger STR-9 Thinline+’s practical upgrades.

The “Plus” in the name is mostly about what you get without adding bulk. Capacity jumps to 19+1 rounds with the included full-size magazine, while two additional 14-round magazines offer a more compact option. All three magazines ship in the box. The result is a crossover-style frame that can be set up for discreet carry or left in a higher-capacity configuration for home defense, without changing pistols.

Recoil management is another focus area. The 3.29-inch barrel is ported, and the pistol’s overall profile lowers the bore axis, helping keep the muzzle flatter during rapid fire. Combined with a lighter slide, the Thinline+ is easy to rack, a small but meaningful improvement for shooters with limited hand strength or anyone practicing one-handed manipulation.

Stoeger also addressed the realities of modern pistol setup. The slide is finished in Tungsten Cerakote for durability and corrosion resistance, a practical choice for a gun that’s likely to live close to the body. The pistol comes optic-ready with a direct-mount cut for RMSc Shield-pattern optics, eliminating the need for adapter plates. A Tritium front sight is standard, providing low-light capability straight from the factory.

Reloads are helped along by a larger magazine well that’s more forgiving under stress, and the synthetic black frame keeps weight reasonable while holding up to daily wear. Taken together, these changes don’t radically alter how the Thinline+ feels or carries. Instead, they smooth out the rough edges, adding capacity and control while keeping the pistol’s defining slimness intact.

The STR-9 Thinline+ carries an MSRP of $699 and sits firmly in the “working gun” category Stoeger is known for. It’s not trying to be flashy or exclusive. It’s trying to be dependable, easy to live with, and ready out of the box, whether it’s worn all day or staged for defense at home.
