At SHOT Show 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week, Winchester Ammunition introduced its new E-Tech shotshell line, which the company says is “an environmentally friendly shotshell that utilizes wads made from biopolymers that are certified as home compostable.”

Winchester E-Tech shotshells are loaded with BioAmmo’s one-piece, four-petal shot wad, and are intended for those that want to limit their use of plastics. Over time, these plant-based wads will degrade into natural elements without sacrificing performance. Additionally, the biopolymer wads have been engineered to match the performance of traditional plastic components for reliable and effective performance on target.

Two E-Tech loads are available at launch. One is a 12-gauge, 2¾-inch, 1⅛-ounce No. 7.5 load (WCM127) with 1,200 f.p.s. velocity, and the other is a 12-gauge, 2¾-inch, one-ounce No. 6 load (WCL12S6) with 1,325 f.p.s. velocity. Both loads are sold in 25-round boxes.

More from the company about the new line of shotshells: “Winchester Ammunition has changed the ammunition landscape through innovation time and time again. Whether it be John Olin’s Super-X that set the standard with progressive-burning powder or the iconic AA shotshell with its reloadable, plastic hull and unique plastic wad. Winchester has put itself on the cutting edge of innovation once again with E-Tech.”
