While the people behind the firing line rarely get the spotlight, they’re the reason great matches feel effortless. In 2026, the NRA Competitive Shooting Division is making sure those leaders are better prepared than ever.
The 2026 NRA America’s Rifle Challenge (ARC) Match Director Summit debuts May 6-10 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, bringing together a select group of club and range volunteers for an immersive professional development experience built specifically for current and aspiring ARC Match Directors and Range Officers.
The ARC Match Director Summit is a three-day program blending classroom instruction with live-fire range training, designed to mirror the pace and demands of actual ARC competitions. The curriculum zeroes in on the responsibilities that matter most—competitor safety, match administration, range operations and creative, challenging stage design—while reinforcing best practices for delivering a high-quality competitive experience from first shot to final score.
Participants will move from structured classroom overviews into progressive, hands-on range exercises, building confidence and competence one level at a time.
Schedule
- May 6 – Arrival and check-in
- May 7 – Classroom program overview
- May 8 – Level I live-fire range exercises
- May 9 – Level II live-fire range exercises
What to Expect
To keep the experience personal and impactful, participation is limited to just 36 attendees. Lodging and meals are provided for those selected, allowing participants to stay focused on learning and refining their craft.
Selected applicants will receive a registration code via email to complete registration and submit the $50 participation fee. Attendees are asked not to make travel arrangements until official notification of selection is received.
Who Should Apply
The summit is designed for individuals who are already involved—or eager to be—in the operational side of ARC competition. Applicants must:
- Represent a local club or range that is hosting (or interested in hosting) NRA America’s Rifle Challenge competitions.
- Possess a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or valid U.S. passport for base access.
- Certify they are not prohibited by law from possessing or accessing firearms or ammunition.
The NRA America’s Rifle Challenge Match Director Summit is about investing in the people who make the sport work. Better-trained directors mean safer matches, smoother operations, smarter stage design and a stronger competitive experience for everyone on the range.
