Remington Ammunition has officially brought back its .22 Short rimfire cartridges, now updated with modern performance and reliability in mind. The newly released rounds are shipping to dealers nationwide in two load types: a 27-grain copper hollow point and a 29-grain lead round nose, both priced at $7.99 per 50-count box.
Engineered for a broad range of users, from backyard plinkers to serious varmint control, the new .22 Short lineup provides a balance of low recoil, reduced noise and dependable performance. It’s also a great fit for new shooters learning the fundamentals without the intimidation of heavier rounds.
“Big tasks sometimes call for short solutions—and our reintroduced .22 Short delivers just that,” said Dan Compton, Rimfire Product Director at Remington. “It’s a perfect choice for varmint specialists and first-time shooters looking for a low-recoil, lower-noise round that still performs with confidence.”
The two load options offer users a choice based on their shooting needs. The hollow point provides expansion for pest control, while the round nose is tailored for smooth feeding and consistent penetration. These improvements continue Remington’s focus on quality and accuracy in rimfire manufacturing.
Published velocity for the 27-grain load is 1,105 f.p.s., with the 29-grain load clocking in at 710 f.p.s. from the muzzle.
Something else to note is the new initiative between Remington and the National Rifle Association of America. The partnership supports Second Amendment advocacy by offering customers a free NRA Membership Activation Card with any $199 purchase from Remington’s website. Buyers must add the card to their cart and complete the activation through NRA.org.
