When Staccato unveiled the HD C4X before SHOT Show 2026 during its Annual Range Day at Staccato Vegas, the message wasn’t about chasing extremes. Instead, it was about tightening the gap between pistols built for professional use and those carried daily. The HD C4X is the newest flagship within the company’s HD 2011 line, a family Staccato describes as the most advanced evolution of the platform it originally created.
The compact HD C4X was co-developed with an elite metropolitan law-enforcement special-surveillance team, a collaboration that shaped nearly every decision. The result is a handgun intended to live comfortably in concealment while remaining a viable option for duty use. That dual role defines the pistol more than any single feature.
At its core is a 4-inch, one-piece barrel with an integrated compensator. Inspired by the company’s larger XC model, the design is meant to reduce muzzle rise without adding bulk or undermining reliability. Staccato says this approach preserves the durability expected from the HD line while delivering flatter shooting in a shorter package. Plus, the barrel is offered with a DLC finish.
Weight and balance come from a precision-machined 7075 aluminum alloy frame. At 24½ ounces without a magazine, the HD C4X is lighter than many steel-framed duty pistols, yet retains the stiffness needed for consistent recoil control. The recoil system is new as well, using a fully captive flat-wire assembly tuned for compact slide length.
The grip module reflects the same balance. Staccato’s HD compact grip uses a restrained side texture for comfort against the body, paired with more aggressive front and back straps to maintain control under recoil. Magazine capacity is 15 rounds, with compatibility extending to most Glock 19-size magazines. Two steel Glock-pattern magazines ship with the pistol.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, and the pistol is cut for optics using Staccato’s HD HOST mounting system. Out of the box, the HD C4X is configured for modern carry with a single-action trigger breaking between 4 and 4½ pounds. Overall dimensions come in at 7.6 inches long, 4.84 inches tall and 1.6 inches wide, with the grip narrowing to 1.2 inches.
Staccato frames the HD C4X as more than a shortened or compensated variant. According to the company, it represents years of incremental development driven by feedback from professionals and civilian owners alike. Paul Smith, Staccato’s vice president of product, described the goal as creating a compact pistol versatile enough to be carried on duty or for personal protection (or both), without compromise in trust or performance.
Each HD C4X ships in a custom Staccato soft case made by Savior Equipment. The bag includes storage for up to three magazines, dual internal zippered pockets and a Velcro name plate with a matching pistol patch. Inside, owners will find the handgun itself, the two 15-round steel magazines—adjusted as required for state capacity limits—a keyed cable lock, an owner’s manual and warranty and safety cards.
The Staccato HD C4X will be offered in three configurations, with pricing starting at $3,499. Availability begins February 16, 2026, through authorized Staccato dealers and directly from staccato2011.com.
