A new era for shooting sports in South Dakota began this week as Winchester Ammunition and White Flyer Targets teamed up to donate more than 200,000 clay targets to the state’s brand-new Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex in Piedmont. The South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks (GFP) facility officially opened to the public on November 8, 2025, marking a major milestone for the region’s expanding sports community.

“The South Dakota Game, Fish, and Parks have created an incredible new shooting sports facility that will play a critical role in introducing new generations to the sport through education and outreach,” said Jason Gilbertson, Senior Director of Marketing for Winchester Ammunition. “The Winchester and White Flyer brands support this incredible complex that will promote responsibility, safety, and community in the shooting sports.”

The Pete Lien & Sons Shooting Sports Complex sits on more than 400 acres of rolling terrain, offering a full slate of ranges for long-range shooting, pistol, shotgun, archery and action disciplines. State officials say the facility is designed to be a hub for both competitive and recreational shooters, with educational programs and training opportunities for participants of all ages and experience levels.

Beyond serving as a venue for competitions and community events, the complex emphasizes safety, conservation and responsible firearm use—principles at the core of South Dakota’s outdoor heritage.
