Kim Rhode Wins Silver at ISSF World Cup Cyprus

Over the weekend, Kim Rhode won silver in the Women’s Skeet event at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup for Shotgun in Larnaca, Cyprus. More than 400 athletes from 61 countries are competing at this ISSF World Cup.

Rhode, who has won gold in Women’s Skeet in the last three ISSF events (2016 World Cup Finals and the two previous World Cups this year in New Delhi, India and Acapulco, Mexico), picked up the sixth World Cup silver medal of her career at the match, bringing her overall World Cup medal count to 32. The silver medal finish also marks the first time in Rhode’s career that she’s won three World Cup medals in one season.

Though Rhode (El Monte, CA) secured her spot in the Final with the highest qualification score73 of 75 targets. She dropped eight targets in the Final to finish with 52 of 60 targets. Wei Meng of China won the gold medal with her score of 54. Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit of Thailand won the bronze.

Additionally qualifying for the Final was three-time Junior World Championships silver medalist Dania Vizzi (Odessa, FL), who finished in sixth placeher highest international finish since moving up from the Junior ranks. Sam Simonton (Gainesville, GA) finished in 15th place with 68 targets.

Rhode leads the U.S. Women’s Skeet Team which has dominated worldwide for years. Since 2013, there’s been just three events in which an American hasn’t been on the podium. During that stretch, there’s been four times with at least two U.S. Women's Skeet Team members on the podium simultaneously.
