Since its inception in the late 1980s, the Sportsman’s Team Challenge (STC) has attracted shooters that continue to enjoy its rich tradition year after year. 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of the match, which is being held July 20-22 at the Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, NE. The tournament will be open to the public. A wide range of competitors will be participating in the 3-day event—along with top-name professional shooters.

Unique to the shooting sports, the STC is a two or three-person team event that combines rifle, pistol and shotgun competition.

Platinum Sponsor Walker’s has generously donated product for the prize tables at this year’s STC match. Competitors will have the chance to win some great new gear for their range bags. The company is committed to promoting family-friendly events like the STC that are helping to grow the shooting sports.

“Shooting events are an important segment of our sport community in which we have the opportunity to educate new and seasoned competitors on the importance of hearing protection. We want to help provide the proper safe, yet fun environment for everyone participating whether a spectator or competitor,” remarked Ben Smith, director of sales and marketing for GSM Outdoors. GSM is the parent company of Walker's.

Smith added, “Doug Koenig, who is the STC Competition Director, has been a major asset to the Walker’s team. Doug’s love for the sport overflows in his desire to run this match and make a positive impact on the next generation of shooters—we couldn’t be more proud of our relationship with Doug … we wish the best of luck to all competitors.”

Koenig said about the STC, “I’m proud to be associated with a match which has evolved into a yearly tradition. It continues to foster special connections and friendships between competitors and industry teams that develop beyond the shooting range.”
