If you’ve been eyeing an M1 Garand rifle, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) just made the process a whole lot easier. On Thursday, July 17, CMP rolled out a brand-new “Buy Now” feature that lets you instantly purchase legacy, non-reclaimed surplus M1 rifles—no bidding required.

Each Thursday at 9:00 a.m. ET, a fresh batch of these iconic U.S. military rifles will drop on CMP’s auction site at fixed prices that match previously offered reclaimed models. The twist? These are legacy service rifles—unmodified and straight from government surplus stock. For collectors and military history buffs, that’s a big deal.

Instead of waiting for auctions to close or battling last-minute bids, buyers can now lock in a rifle with a single click—assuming they’re fast enough. CMP is limiting sales to one rifle per customer per month to help keep access fair as demand is expected to be high.

These non-reclaimed M1s haven’t been refurbished, meaning they retain the wear and character of a rifle that’s truly seen service. For many collectors, that untouched authenticity makes them even more desirable than reconditioned models.

Forget bidding wars—this is your no-hassle path to owning a true American classic. First come, first served. Sign up at cmpauction.thecmp.org and check out CMP’s quick YouTube guide to get started. These rifles won’t sit long.
