This year, SFC Brandon Green’s shooting has been outstanding, to say the least. For starters, he won a third NRA National High Power Rifle Championship at Camp Atterbury, IN, this past July. Never one to disappoint, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU) shooter’s latest accomplishment is quite noteworthy. Green is the first-ever U.S. military service member to win the Governor General’s Prize at the 136th Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championships. Green won the match with a score of 297-40V.

The match took place at the Connaught Ranges in Ottawa, Ontario, from August 18-25. Above, see the photo of Green being “chaired” to the awards ceremony—which is the traditional way of congratulating the victor.

On his Facebook page, Green had this to say about the win:

“After one of the most memorable days of my life, I have to give credit where it is truly due. None of my success is if my own doing. I owe everything to my family, teammates, friends, and the U.S. AMU and I have to thank you all for it. The list is of people who have supported, mentored, pushed, and put up with me is longer than you can imagine. Please know that in addition to the few that I mention here, everyone that has even clapped for me from a distance is included in this thank you. I mean it with the most sincerity possible, thank you. I’m not looking for a response or reaction from this post at all, I just want everyone to know how much your help and support means to me. Cindy Lee, Emil Praslick, Norman Anderson, Lance Hopper, Grant Singley, Ty Cooper, Joetta Dement, Donald Heuman, Shane Barnhart, Daniel Horner, Joel Turner Jr., Tyler Payne, Ben Cleland, Amanda Elsenboss, Jim Henderson, Forrest Greenwood, Lane Ichord, William Pace, Evan Hess, Shawn Waller, Troy Lawton, Wayne Carroll, Kent Reeve, Raymond Gross, the U.S. National team members and the list goes on for miles! Thank you all again, you know I couldn’t have done any of this without you.”
