At SHOT Show 2019's Industry Day at the Range, our friends at Bergara had a new product showcase, chief among them the new Bergara Premier Series Ridgeback Rifle. Dan Hanus, technical development manager for Bergara Rifles was kind enough to go over the Ridgeback's key features. Watch the video above.

Bergara Premier Series Ridgeback Rifle

Built with precision rifle shooters in mind, the new Ridgeback rifle features Bergara’s Premier action in combination with a medium Palma-tapered, stainless steel Bergara barrel. The bolt is fluted and includes a tactical knob. The Trigger Tech trigger that comes standard is best described as having a "not too light, not too heavy" disposition. The trigger uses frictionless release technology, which is a marvel to use. Trust us when we say that you want one of these.

The new Grayboe Ridgeback stock is the first composite stock that fully supports the M-Lok system, with 12 slots available for accessory attachment. Manufactured from fiberglass, the cheek rest is adjustable. There's even an anti-cant level embedded in the stock, which can come in handy for precision shooters.

The Bergara Premier Series Ridgeback is available in the following calibers: .223 Rem., 6.5mm Creedmoor, 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .300 Win. Mag. and .300 PRC. The weight of the Bergara Premier Series Ridgeback is 10 to 10½ pounds, depending on caliber. Barrel length varies from 20 to 26 inches, again depending on the caliber. Overall length of the rifle ranges from 39½ to 46 inches, depending on barrel length.

The Bergara Premier Series is an extension of the company's Custom Series, but with standardized parts. This allows the company to make a "near-custom" rifle at a very affordable price. All Bergara Premier rifles are built around Bergara's premium barrels, which are highly regarded for their quality and attention to detail. We learned firsthand at Industry Day just how great of a bargain this new Bergara is for PRS shooters looking for an affordable, Production division-legal rifle to use for competition. Be on the lookout for a full review of the Bergara Premier Series Ridgeback in a future issue of the digital magazine.

MSRP: $2,000. An AICS-style detachable 5-round magazine is included (6.5 PRC magazine is bumped up to 7 rounds).
