Shooters have new options for red-dot sights in the recently announced HEX Optics line by Springfield Armory. The company says that HEX is a special project “to develop superior optical support for your firearms.” HEX debuts with two red-dot reflex sight options priced under $300: the Wasp, a micro red-dot sight designed for direct mount concealed carry, and its big brother the Dragonfly, a standard-size red dot with the versatility for multiple shooting platforms.

HEX Wasp ($299).

As mentioned, the HEX Wasp ($299) is well suited for compact applications, such as concealed carry pistols and offset rifle mounting. The red-dot itself is a 3.5-MOA one. For adjustment, the Wasp offers 0.5 MOA per click for a total of 90 MOA for windage and elevation. Precision machined from 6061 T6 Hardcoat anodized aluminum, the Wasp is outfitted with a scratch-resistant, anti-glare glass lens. Plus, it’s always powered on, and includes an auto-dimming sensor to regulate dot brightness based on ambient light conditions.

The website states that battery life for the Wasp is about two years. The Wasp has a Springfield Micro (Shield RMSc) footprint, which has become a standard due to the popularity of the Springfield Armory Hellcat. In addition, the Wasp comes packed with a hex wrench, Torx wrench, CR2032 battery, sealing plate and three sets of screws.

HEX Dragonfly
HEX Dragonfly ($249).

Similar to its smaller stablemate, the HEX Dragonfly ($249) sports a 3.5-MOA red dot, but in a standard-sized package. Billed as the “more versatile reflex sight,” the Dragonfly is a good fit for most pistol, rifle and shotgun applications, and will fit Springfield Standard, Vortex Venom and Burris FastFire footprints. Adjustment level is 1 MOA per click for a total of 160 MOA for windage and elevation. Eight levels of manual brightness adjustment provide a high level of control, and the 16-hour auto-off function will keep the battery from draining if you accidentally leave it on.

Like the Wasp, the Dragonfly is precision machined from 6061 T6 Hardcoat anodized aluminum and outfitted with a scratch resistant, anti-glare glass lens. Included in the box with the Dragonfly are a Picatinny mount, hex wrench, Torx wrench, CR2032 battery, sealing plate and three sets of screws.
