Although the monthly digital magazine is coming to an end, Shooting Sports USA will continue here on the website. Readers can expect the same reliable reviews, expert analysis and comprehensive match reporting—now published with greater timeliness. Our weekly email newsletter will continue to deliver the latest news from the competitive shooting community. (You can subscribe to the newsletter here.) In addition, you can still access the back issue archive going back to 2009 (click on the archives button on the top toolbar).
Shooting Sports USA’s story stretches back more than a century, beginning as an insert in Arms and the Man—later The American Rifleman—and growing through NRA Tournament News and American Marksman before adopting the Shooting Sports USA name in 1988. Over the decades, we have chronicled the evolution of competitive shooting into the modern era. Since 2015, I have had the honor of leading this publication alongside an outstanding team of editors, designers, photographers and contributors whose dedication brought every issue of the digital magazine to life.
One memory I will always carry from my time as editor came at the Paris 2024 Olympics, when Vincent Hancock secured his fourth men’s skeet gold medal. In a dramatic final, he faced his own protégé, Connor Prince, edging him by a single target—58 to 57. Watching that moment of pure marksmanship skill and sportsmanship captured everything that makes competitive shooting extraordinary.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your enthusiasm and support have kept the spirit of Shooting Sports USA alive for generations, and we look forward to continuing that legacy with you here at the website.
Wishing you and your families a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Good Shooting in 2026.
With Gratitude,
John Parker
Editor-in-Chief, Shooting Sports USA
