New from Fix It Sticks is the Armorer’s Punch Toolkit, which pairs a purpose-built 7½-ounce hammer with 24 punches across four material-specific sets.

The toolkit includes 24 punches (steel pin, brass pin, roll pin and roll pin starter) in six sizes from 1/16 to 1/4 inch. The brass punches protect finishes during pin work, while the roll pin punches use hollow tips to center on pins without slipping. (Photo courtesy Fix It Sticks)

The centerpiece is the Armorer’s Hammer, and the feature that separates it from other compact hammers is a 1/4-inch magnetic socket built into the head. That socket accepts alternate hammer heads (a brass insert is included), but it also turns the hammer into a wrench, giving the user leverage and control on fasteners without reaching for a separate tool. The body is electroless nickel-plated steel with a knurled handle for grip. At 7½ ounces, it is light enough to drop into a range bag and forget about until it is needed. The hammer is also available separately for $35.

The punch selection covers the four types that see the most use in firearms work. The steel pin punch set handles standard pin removal and installation. As for the brass pin punch set, it does the same work on finishes and components that would be damaged by steel-on-steel contact. Next, the roll pin punch set has hollow tips sized to center on roll pins without slipping off, and a roll pin starter punch set gets those pins seated before the standard roll pin punches take over. Each of the four sets includes six sizes: 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 and 1/4 inch. An extension doubles as a punch holder.

The Armorer's Hammer weighs 7½ ounces and features a 1/4-inch magnetic socket in the head that accepts alternate hammer heads or converts the tool into a wrench. Everything fits in a soft-sided carrying case with a center divider panel and elastic loops that hold each component in place. The case is the kind of detail that matters more in practice than on paper—loose punches in the bottom of a bag are punches that go missing, and the six-size-per-set layout means there are 24 individual pieces to keep track of. The organized storage also makes it faster to find the right punch in the middle of a job, which is critical when you are working at a match without good lighting or much time to work.

Fix It Sticks developed the kit with input from competitive shooters, armorers and gunsmiths, and it slots into the company’s broader lineup of portable toolkits that includes the Field Armorer’s Toolkit and the AR Field Armorer’s Toolkit.

The Armorer’s Punch Toolkit is available now with a suggested retail price of $210. For more information, visit store.fixitsticks.com.
