The 2017 Biennial Coach Academy Conference, hosted by USA Shooting (USAS) Coach Academy Director Michael Thiemer and staff was recorded on video, thus accessible online for the first time ever. The conference received high marks in a survey given to those that viewed presentations both onsite and via online broadcast. Ninety-two percent of attendees surveyed said the conference “exceeded or met expectations.” People who viewed the seminars online enjoyed the new format. Additionally, coaches who were at the physical venue remarked that the opportunities for networking with other coaches was invaluable at the conference.
A few testimonials:
“The sessions were very informative and the social networking was fantastic. As a newbie to Olympic shooting, I learned a great deal from the presenters and just as much from the other coaches who were there. The value of attending this conference in person is in developing/expanding a coach’s social network!”
“Excellent program. Stayed on schedule. Onsite option is most effective for those who can attend. Most of these coaches are the future of the sport. The networking in between is invaluable. Off-site option is excellent for those who cannot travel.”
“Facilities comfortable, easy to hear presentations. Enjoyed the topics. Liked the web access to most presentations ahead of time. Nice to view them on iPad while listening to presenter. Easier to see details in some slides.”
Thiemer said the new format has all the presenters’ PowerPoint slides and audio recordings from their lectures compiled into video presentations for online consumption. This includes the coach panel, athlete panel and PR/media training seminars. Each presentation is a course in the USAS Coach Academy, and after you complete all 14 of them, Thiemer will send you a 2017 Biennial Coach Conference completion certificate.
The courses can also be taken “a la carte” according to interest. If you registered (paid) for the Coach Conference this summer, you will have full access to all of the video presentations online.
Best of all, coaches that attend or take the online classes will be empowered to better help club athletes to win medals for themselves and their club, school or university―continuing the U.S. Olympic shooting legacy.
All of the conference presentations are listed in the USAS Coach Academy Catalog (see under “2017 Coach Conference”) at www.usashooting-coachacademy.org/2017-coach-conference.html
