Lapua recently announced the launch of its new TrueRange Expanding (TRX) hunting bullets and factory-loaded ammunition. TRX bullets and ammo sport a solid-copper, polymer-tipped design.

TRX bullets will be available this summer with these initial offerings: 6.5 mm 120-grain TRX, .30 caliber 150-grain TRX and .30 caliber 165-grain TRX.

As of June 2025, Lapua’s TRX hunting projectile lineup includes the following: 6.5 mm 120-grain bullet, .30 caliber 150-grain bullet and .30 caliber 165-grain bullet. More calibers are coming soon. (Photo courtesy Lapua)

As for factory-loaded TRX ammunition, it will launch in Fall 2025 and will feature Lapua’s patented Air Lock technology. Available calibers include 6.5 mm Creedmoor 120-grain TRX, 6.5x55 mm SE 120-grain TRX and .308 Win. 150-grain TRX. (Stay tuned for more cartridge options to be revealed later this year.)

The 120-grain 6.5 mm TRX lead-free expanding N583 hunting bullet has a BC G1 of 0.428 and BC G7 of 0.212.

Next, the 150-grain .30 cal. TRX N585 projectile has a BC G1 of 0.384 and BC G7 of 0.190.

Finally, the 165-grain .30 cal. TRX lead-free expanding N584 bullet has BC G1 of 0.490 and BC G7 of 0.243.

Upon impact, TRX showcases exceptional terminal performance, with nearly 100% weight retention and impressive energy transfer, due to its solid-copper and polymer-tipped design.

More from Lapua about TrueRange Expanding ammo and bullets: “Engineered with the highest ballistic coefficient (BC) values in its class, TRX delivers industry leading long-range precision, a flat-shooting trajectory and superior resistance to wind drift. These features give hunters the confidence to make precise shots even in challenging field conditions.”

Impact velocities and mushrooming
Whether pursuing big game or small- to mid-sized animals, Lapua said that TRX will provide “deep penetration and reliable expansion, even at extended distances—allowing for a clean and ethical, lead-free harvest every time.” (Screenshot courtesy Lapua)

“Hunters today need ammunition that will deliver under the toughest conditions and offer reliable and repeatable results,” Lapua Director of Sales and Marketing Jarkko Aro said. “New TRX bullets and ammunition raise the bar for both long-range precision and terminal ballistics, making it the ideal choice for your hunt of a lifetime.”

Besides the calibers already mentioned, Lapua says that additional calibers in the TRX ammo and projectile lineup will be announced soon.
