Ruger’s RXM pistol already had a reputation for being a modular 9 mm that punched above its class, but its newest accessory nudges it into a more grown-up role. The Enhanced Handgun Grip from Magpul—built specifically for the RXM—drops the compact frame’s Fire Control Insert into a full-size, duty-sized chassis that costs about the same as a box of premium ammo. It’s a quietly clever upgrade timed neatly for the holiday season.

The RXM has always leaned into modularity, a trait more often associated with contemporary rifles than handguns. The Fire Control Insert can hop between compatible frames, which means the gun’s personality shifts with the shell you choose. The original grip gave the pistol a compact, carry-friendly footprint. This new full-size version stretches the platform into competition or duty territory without altering the gun’s core mechanics or reliability.

The new grip doesn’t reinvent the ergonomics so much as refine them. A 3/4-scale TSP pattern wraps the surface, adding traction without biting too hard into your palms. The trigger guard keeps its familiar undercut, giving shooters a higher perch that smooths recoil impulse and shortens recovery time between shots. The built-in magazine well, flared just enough to matter, speeds reloads without looking like an aftermarket race part grafted on after the fact.

Compatibility was clearly a nonnegotiable. The universal accessory rail remains, so lights and lasers slot in without drama. GL9-pattern magazines still feed the platform reliably, and most Gen3 holsters and small parts continue to play nicely with the new frame.

Built from the same rigid, injection-molded polymer that underpins many Magpul products, the grip is made entirely in the U.S. and launches in black and grey, with FDE and ODG following close behind. A sub-compact version is reportedly not far off, further underscoring that the RXM’s modular ecosystem is quickly becoming its own small universe.

All of this signals something interesting in the handgun world: not every upgrade needs to be a statement piece. Sometimes the smartest move is a small shift in geometry—one that lets the pistol adapt to the shooter. This new full-size grip from Magpul quietly accomplishes exactly that.
