In a move that will resonate with precision rifle shooters, RCBS has expanded its X-Die series with a new full-length sizing die specifically for the 6.5 mm Creedmoor—a cartridge that’s popular for both long-range competition and hunting circles.

If you’re tired of trimming brass after every few firings, this die might have your name on it.

The patented X-Die tech has already built a following among reloaders who prioritize case life, consistency and efficiency. Instead of repeatedly trimming brass to keep cases within spec, the X-Die uses a mandrel system to halt case growth during sizing—without compromising dimensions critical to accuracy. It’s essentially a mechanical governor for case stretch.

As RCBS explains:

“Designed for reloaders who want maximum case life and minimum time spent trimming brass, RCBS’s X-Die series features a patented mechanism that eliminates the need for repeated trimming after initial case prep. Unlike standard full-length sizing dies, the X-Die uses a specialized mandrel system that precisely limits case growth during sizing—saving time while preserving critical dimensions for accurate shooting.”

The new 6.5 mm Creedmoor version carries over all the benefits of the original X-Die design—now optimized for a cartridge that’s widely praised for its mild recoil and ballistic performance.

RCBS Product Manager Steve Koch summed it up plainly:

“This new X-Die brings speed and efficiency to reloading a popular cartridge. With this sizing die, shooters can go multiple firings without trimming cases—while still maintaining proper headspace, neck tension and reliability.”

That last part is key. Brass life and convenience are great, but not if they come at the cost of consistency or safety. By keeping neck tension and headspace within tight tolerances, the X-Die caters to handloaders who are just as concerned with repeatable accuracy as they are with saving time.

The new die is priced at $67.49 and is available now through RCBS dealers and the company’s website. It’s made in Oroville, California, as part of RCBS’s broader mission to keep reloading benches well-stocked with American-made handloading and reloading tools. Other cartridges supported by the X-Die line include .223 Remington, .308 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield.

For competition shooters, this little die is a big deal—especially if you’re the type who’d rather spend time shooting than trimming.
