There’s still time to sign up for the Talladega 600an event that is quickly becoming a “Southern Classic” for pistol, shotgun and rifle enthusiasts. The event will be held December 6-11, at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park.

Along with popular CMP Games and National-level rifle matches, those interested in shotgun can indulge in a Sporting Clays Shoot, which features 15 stations, and a 5-Stand Shoot on the park’s own shotgun fields. Each shotgun range is equipped with automated trap machines.

For pistol lovers, a .22 Rimfire EIC Match and As-Issued 1911 and Military/Police Matches are scheduled to be fired in Talladega. Pistol events will be held on the facility’s 50-yard range, which features electronic targets.

Additionally, training opportunities perfect for novice marksmen, clubs or groups or even those who have never shot before are available through the rifle Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) offered during the event. There, participants learn the fundamentals and safety requirements of rifle shooting, using the CMP’s AR15 rifles, with one-on-one, focused training from CMP’s Master Instructors. Ammunition is provided for the Rifle SAFS and students will need to bring safety glasses, ear protection and shooting mat or jacket if available. Students will also fire in an easy-paced, true M16 Match at the conclusion of the course for a real taste of competitive shooting.

Off of the firing line, the clubhouse holds a fully-stocked Pro Shop that includes an exclusive collection of rifles, pistols, ammunition and accessories, provided by the professionals of Creedmoor Sports.
