Proof Research has expanded its Proof Exponential Twist (PXT) barrel line, adding a family of steel competition blanks along with more pre-fit options and additional caliber choices for competitive shooters and hunters.

The steel competition blanks are the headline addition for match shooters. Available in .224, .243, .257, .264 and .308, they pair Proof Research’s exponential-twist rifling with steel construction rather than the carbon-fiber wrap that has long defined the company’s barrels.

“Since launching PXT, we’ve received tremendous interest from customers looking for additional platforms and calibers,” said Brandon Hulzebosch, Proof Research’s director of sales and marketing. “This expansion reflects our commitment to growing the PXT lineup, responding to the demand that we’re seeing and making this technology available to more shooters and their specific needs.”

Pre-fit options grew as well. Proof Research added PXT pre-fits for Impact Precision and Terminus actions in both carbon-fiber and steel configurations, covering chamberings that include .223 Rem., .22 Creedmoor, 6 ARC, 6 Creedmoor, 6 GT, 6 Dasher, 25 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, 7 mm Backcountry, 7 mm PRC, .308 Winchester and .300 PRC, depending on platform and barrel configuration.

For bolt guns, the company introduced .243 and .257 carbon-fiber blanks, extending PXT to two more cartridge families. AR-pattern shooters gained new carbon-fiber configurations in 300 BLK and .308 Win., along with steel AR barrels in .223 Wylde, 300 BLK and 6.5 Creedmoor.

Beyond the new barrels, Proof Research broadened PXT pre-fit compatibility to more custom actions, adding Zermatt Arms, Tikka, Defiance Ruckus, Lone Peak and Falkor to the list of supported platforms.

PXT itself is unchanged. Its rifling uses a progressive twist that eases the bullet into rotation instead of the abrupt engagement of a constant-twist bore, which Proof Research says lowers engraving force and slows throat erosion. Those performance figures and the engineering behind them ran in Shooting Sports USA’s earlier PXT coverage.

The expanded PXT lineup, including steel competition blanks, carbon-fiber and steel pre-fits and the new .243 and .257 bolt blanks, is available through Proof Research and its dealers. Additional information on Proof Exponential Twist (PXT) barrels is at proofresearch.com.
