Team USA’s medal count climbs to eight at the 2025 World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) Grand Prix in Arequipa, Peru, with Landon Ruggera, Toai Nolan, Ben Hays and Jadon Nafziger all earning medals on Sunday, August 3.

The team’s success on day two further cements the United States’ position at the top of the medal table among the 10 nations competing this week.

Ruggera topped the podium with a gold medal in R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH1. He claimed first by besting Godo Arcela of Peru who finished in second. Nolan joined Ruggera on the podium with a bronze medal. Ruggera’s accomplishment marks his second international medal and his first gold. He earned his first international medal at the 2023 WSPS Changwon World Cup. The Gunnison, Colorado, native has been making his name know across the shooting circuit. He was most recently crowned the 2025 USA Shooting National Champion in R6 Mixed 50m Rifle SH1.

Nolan’s rise in the sport has been nothing short of impressive. The San Antonio native competed in his first USA Shooting match earlier this year and is already making a name for himself on the international stage. He earned the first international medal of his career with a bronze in R3 at the 2025 Arequipa Grand Prix, which also marked his debut in international competition. A U.S. Army veteran, Nolan was introduced to the sport by two-time Paralympian Marco De La Rosa.

The R3 medalists shot alongside U.S. teammates Steven Hutchcraft and Taylor Farmer, the latter earning a gold medal in the R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle SH1 event.

Hays and Nafziger earned silver and bronze, respectively, in R5 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH2. Hay’s silver doubles his medal count at the Arequipa Grand Prix. The Annandale, Virginia, native earned gold in R4 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH2 on Saturday, August 2. Hays became a resident athlete at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, this past February, and has continued to find success in his shooting career since.

Nafziger’s success at the 2025 WSPS Arequipa Grand Prix marked several major milestones for the Mackinaw, Illinois, native. The event was his first international competition, where he reached two finals, placing fourth in R4 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH2 and earning bronze in R5. Nafziger shot in his first USA Shooting competition at the 2022 Junior Olympic Championships and his shooting career has excelled since. He most recently earned the 2025 USA Shooting National Champion title in R5 Mixed 10m Air Rifle SH2.

Nafziger and Hays were joined in the R5 final by U.S. teammates Jazmin Almlie-Ryan and Eric Heideman.
